Beneficial self-talk is nothing more than Affirmations!

Self-talk VS Affirmations Knowing the Difference

Why aren’t Affirmations and Self-Talk the same thing?

We've discussed and hinted at the fact that affirmations and self-talk aren't the same things. Many people ask me if self-talk is just affirmations recorded to listen to, and the short answer is no—recorded beneficial self-talk is not affirmations. Let's delve into why that is in this week's newsletter.

Understanding Affirmations

Let's start with affirmations. They are often recorded, and self-talk is as well. The biggest difference lies in the thought behind affirmations: you repeat them as the person says them in the recording. They usually consist of positive statements like "You are beautiful," "I am worthy," "You are good," "I am smart," etc. Affirmations typically consist of a few words that say something positive to the person listening and are intended to be about the person listening. The listener is responsible for repeating these affirmations over and over again, out loud or in their head, to make them effective. Honestly, with affirmations, it is usually more effective for the person to repeat them out loud because it engages them more than just saying it in their mind.

The Challenge of Affirmations

However, your mind can and will agree with you when it hears things that you don't normally tell it. For example, if you have the affirmation "I am smart" but you always tell yourself "Well, that was stupid," "Wow, I will never get this," "I'm horrible at learning," etc., your mind will argue against that affirmation, making it very hard for you to change that damaging self-talk. You see, you have programmed your brain to think something very differently, so if you present something new, it will still try to revert back to those old programs.

The Power of Self-Talk

Affirmations can be a beautiful thing; they just tend to take longer because of the pushback received by the brain. Also, affirmations are usually less descriptive and are built to give you a few positive words in the area you pick.

Here is where it gets really interesting and makes it so much easier. Your brain is easy to reprogram; you just have to know how to do it. Your brain picks up everything around it—that's how it was designed—but it will usually concentrate on a few main things at a time. This is where self-talk comes in. It will change your life if you let it.

How Self-Talk Works

Beneficial self-talk is played in the background while you conduct daily activities in the same way you have always done them. You see, when you learned your first language, it was learned and picked up by listening to your background—well, 80% of it was, anyways. So if you learned your first language in the background, you can learn your beneficial self-talk in the background. It has worked for thousands of people, and science has proven it can work for anyone.

The Difference in Depth

Self-talk recordings are more complete thoughts than just small phrases like affirmations. Self-talk goes a little longer, a little deeper, and looks a little more like this: "I'm resourceful and smart, always learning what's necessary for the task at hand. I have a knack for knowing exactly where to find the information I need, ensuring I'm well-prepared and efficient in my work." You can see with that sentence it is more in-depth and structured for the subject at hand.

The Rewiring Process

Because you are playing beneficial self-talk in the background, your mind is not arguing with it. It has other tasks it is doing, so it lets it be in the background, but it is causing your brain to rewire. Our mind is an amazing thing, and whatever you tell it, it will do. So start learning the language of self-talk and give yourself the gift of it today.

Here is one of the most powerful self-talk recordings we have. But, a few more things before I go. It has been shown that self-talk works best when you are listening to someone else's voice. Most people don't like their own voice. Self-talk is not hypnotism—we will delve into that in a later newsletter. Also, self-talk is not subliminal messages—we will also get into that in a later letter as well.
